Berks 2026 Preliminary Subscriber Pricebook (May 22, 2026)

This documentation is being provided to Berks County radio system end-users to permit budget development and product exploration.  All efforts were taken to ensure accuracy, but it was prepared by County personnel using Motorola content and may have errors.  Motorola is bound by contract pricing, not the content of this document, so it should be used with caution.  Final costs will be established in Motorola sales meetings with the customer.  All content is subject to change as it is not yet finalized through contract.

Pricing shown is list price and should be adjusted by the prevailing contract discount for the category of product.  The exception is radios themselves, which are shown configured as required on the Berks system with all needed features/options included.  These are shown with list price, discount price and discount with trade.

Remember that any cost reductions/credits shown (eg. eliminating a band from a radio) must also be reduced by the discount amount.  So, a radio that is being discounted 45%, and that has a user selectable line item for a $1,000 credit does not really result in a $1,000 price drop.  The credit must be “discounted” by the same 45% resulting in a $550 price drop for the $1,000 credit line.

Within the linked html documents below, there will be links out to other locations on the web.  Some of these links will work and others will be broken.  Generally, the best way to view further information or pictures is to simply do a web search for the part number or topic you are interested in.

SUBSCRIBER COST SUMMARY AT A GLANCE
This information is being provided for ease of reference to compare the cost of subscriber units side by side.  There are things NOT included in these prices that need to be considered (accessories, encryption, etc.).  There are things included that may be able to be backed out (2nd or 3rd bands in all band radios).  This chart is not a substitute for examining the detailed information in each radio model link below.

The portable radio models below are new(er) offerings from Motorola.  These “Next n-Series” radios should be considered with a great deal of caution.  There is little experience with the hardware within Berks County, but monitoring of deployments nationwide, and even in close proximity to Berks, indicates some concerns ranging from audio quality/volume to hardware durability and performance.

These radios have no numeric keypad so “quick navigation buttons” are not possible.  The radios do have voice steering like the Next series of radios though.

Additionally, these radios use a mini-GCAI connector unlike all other portables available that use a full size connector, so no currently owned audio accessories will work with these radios.

The view of the County is that end user agencies should not implement these models but, if choosing to do so, should do it only after extensive internal testing that satisfies that the radio will meet the agency needs.

SUBSCRIBER WARRANTY SUMMARY & DETAILS

Note the warranty T&Cs linked below speak to some obligations of the customer (eg. packaging and shipping the radio to Motorola at customer expense).

The current status of the Berks negotiation will have these T&Cs modified to only obligating the customer to deliver the faulty hardware to a local radio shop.

NEIGHBOR COUNTY SYSTEM PLANNING

Agencies desiring the capability to incorporate another county’s/other counties’ codeplug(s) into their radio may require additional features beyond those needed for the Berks system.  Below is a matrix explaining when additional capability is necessary and what that capability is believed to be.

As with this entire package, this is for planning purposes and exposed to change at any time.  Some surrounding counties are still finalizing their system solution.  Some are in the midst of upgrades at this time.  All final requirements (as well as permission to use these systems) are decided by the other county and will need to be confirmed at time of order.

The added features/encryption descriptions and costs are fund in the sections beneath the base radio build/cost in each radio page linked above.

All of these scenarios require that all keys (inc Berks) will need to be HW keyloaded

NOTE ON LEHIGH ENCRYPTION: Radios will need to be taken to Lehigh for keyloading as Lehigh does not share keys
